Congratulations to our own Conor Meany on his recent appointment as Commercial Manager with Basketball Ireland. Conor takes a wealth of social media, PR and indepth basketball knowledge to the role and we wish him every success.
A thrilling win by the Division 1 team was the highlight of the week. A very tough draw saw them having to travel down to Neptune Stadium to face a Neptune team that included former Superleague Star Ger Noonan. Undaunted by the challenge the team managed to pull off a huge win 73-69. Mark Ryan led the way with 26 points and was helped out by Jack Nolan who added 18 and Mike Chubb who scored 11. The team are now in National Cup semi final in January. Well done to John and the team.
The u15s had mixed results with a comprehensive win over Malahide on Friday followed by a tough loss to Templeogue in the cup. Trailing by 1 at half time a tough 3rd quarter allowed Templeogue open a lead that despite great efforts in the 4th we couldn't overcome.
The u14s had a great win on Sunday against K...
We have some exciting news from some of our underage teams.
Firstly congratulations to Ronan Byrne from the u14s who has been selected on the Dublin u14 panel.
There have been 51 players pre-selected to try out for the Irish u15 squad and two of our u15s have been chosen. Best of luck to Paraic Moran and Luke Gilleran. (details here)
Lastly Owen Nelson and Jake Owens from the u17s have been selected on the Irish u17 development squad. Hopefully they will be able to follow in the footsteps of their U18 teammate Donal Ring and make the final squad. (details here)
For those who were disappointed not to be selected keep working hard and your day will come.
Another busy week for the club saw some brilliant results and some tough lessons.
Starting the week off Liam Lavelle and the Division 5 team had a big win in Collinstown against Ballyfermot. Some great offense and stellar defense lead to a 61-45 win.
The division 2 team had a tough mid week challenge against an undefeated Bullets team. In a great game the team were disappointed to come up just short on a scoreline of 66-63. Hopefully they will be able to get the win the next time the two teams meet,
On Friday night turnovers cost the u15s as they lost out to a strong St. Vincents team in Oatlands.
The u18s progressed in the Dublin Cup with a narrow win over Kubs. This continues the strong recent form of the team and they will now face Killester in the semi final.
The u16s continue ...
It was a busy weekend with 8 teams playing over the 3 days.
On Friday night in Oatlands the u15s got us off to a great start with a convincing win over Drogheda Bullets in the first round of the cup. Unfortunately the Division 1 team came up short away against an excellent Tolka Rovers team.
On Saturday there was disappointment for both U16 teams as they both lost out in the cup. The 16(1) team lost out narrowly to Eanna while the 16(2) team had a tough draw against St. Vincents but accounted for themselves very well despite losing.
In the u13 league there was a fantastic game over in Kubs which we managed to win while playing some great basketball.
Also on Saturday afternoon the u18s played away to Tolka B. Unfortunately the refs didn't both show up so we were only able to play a f...
